Since 2014 Blue Hills UU has been recognized as a “Welcoming Congregation” by the Unitarian Universalist Association. Churches and fellowships must go through special programming and review to be recognized as a “Welcoming Congregation.” What is most important to us is not just the label our fellowship has earned, but the fact that we strive to be a congregation that welcomes people with open arms regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or any other personal attribute which has been unfairly used to separate people from being full participants in a loving, spiritual community.
As the poster on our wall says, we “welcome and celebrate the presence and participation of people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer.”
