ALL DAY EVENT IN MENOMONIE:

On Sunday, June 10, the UW-Stout Alumni Association, the Unitarian Society of Menomonie, and the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts (MTCA) invite you to a celebration of the contributions of Rev. Henry Doty Maxson (1852-1891). Maxson inspired Bertha and Andrew Tainter to create the Mabel Tainter Memorial as a community center as well as a Unitarian Church. He also supported James Huff Stout’s vision of creating education opportunities for all.
We would like as many as possible to drive down to Menomonie to attend their Henry Doty & Ada Maxson Celebration. This is a day-long affair, cosponsored by the Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts. The formal program starts at 10 am, there are tours of various sites, a lunch for which reservations are needed ($15, call 235-0001), a reception, more tours, and a concert with organ playing at 4pm.  You can see the detailed explanation and program at unitariansocietyofmenomonie.com/wp/maxsoncelebration
For those who do not wish to go to Menomonie, we will have a Soapbox Sunday at BHUU.

10:00AM: JOINT SERVICE WITH MENOMONIE AND ST. CROIX FALLS IN ST. CROIX FALLS

Also note that on April 29 we will be traveling to St. Croix Falls for another joint meeting with our fellow UUers from Menomonie and St. Croix Falls, at the Taylors Falls Community Center.  Topic: Everyday kindness, led by Jim Price. A brief talk exploring barriers and opportunities for everyday kindness–enough to prime small group discussions with our guests from out of town. We’ll distribute kindness cards that can be explored and used later.
The address is: 312 Government St, Taylors Falls, MN.  The directions are: Hwy 8, cross the St. Croix River, at the stoplight go UP the hill to the right (NOT continuing on Hwy 8) and watch carefully on the left for the Community Center. (I think it’s just at the top of the bluff.) Jim Price of SCFUU will give a brief talk and there will be small group discussions. A potluck will follow; St. Croix Falls  said they will provide all the food but I’m sure edible contributions will be welcome.
Please attend if you can.  Judy Barisonzi will facilitate car-pooling. Please contact her is you need a ride or can offer a ride.
