Marty Sozhansky will be leading the service this week and will talk about something that if you’re reading this, you have done: read.  Maybe you’re an avid reader or maybe you haven’t read a book since high school, but regardless of your reading frequency this service will touch upon how reading can help us grow in our hearts and minds.

Nadine Wetzel-Curtis will discuss what she learned and experienced when she recently went to the Unitarian Universalist Association General Assembly.

10:30 SERVICE: REFLECTIONS ON HIROSHIMA AND THE NUCLEAR AGE

Kent will be leading the service with lighting the chalice, reading of the 7 UU principles, sharing local announcements, joys and concerns, music from our hymnals, and his reflections on Hiroshima and the nuclear age.

Sunday July 29th Schedule

10:30 FORUM: THE UTAH EXPERIENCE

Dana will be leading the discussion forum by showing pictures of her recent trip to Utah with her fellow students and professor.  They camped, volunteered, and did research at The Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.  Join us to hear about her experience there, what she learned, and how the trip has impacted her.

Sunday July 22nd Schedule

10:30 SERVICE: REPORT FROM GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Valerie Rude will be leading the service and telling us about her recent experience at the UU general assembly.  The UUA website (https://www.uua.org/ga) says that “General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Attendees worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the Association through democratic process. Anyone may attend; congregations must certify annually to send voting delegates.”

Sunday, July 15th Schedule

10:30 SERVICE: THE GREENING OF CHRISTIANITY

Rev. Bruce Johnson, minister of the Duluth UU church, will join us to make up the snow day we missed in April.  Rev. Bruce always has an interesting and thought provoking message for us.  And it’s potluck Sunday on top of that!

Reverend Bruce Johnson will be leading the service and asking the question, “Why do UU’s tend to not use Christian texts to draw inspiration, instruction, and encouragement for environmental activism?”

10:30 FORUM: CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Colten will facilitate the forum by beginning with a Ted Talk titled “The Beauty of Conflict” which helps us question our perception and ideas about conflict.  A set of questions will follow to help us view conflict in a more positive light and build skills to proactively resolve conflict in our lives and in the world.

10:30 SERVICE: Nukewatch

Nukewatch, established in 1979, is an anti-nuclear organization that calls attention to the dangers and politics of nuclear weapons and radioactive wastes.  John La Forge, founder of Nukewatch, will provide critical information on nuclear developments around the world. Questions are welcome!
