Linda Thompson will be leading the service this week.  What is “Guest at Your Table”?  The answer, from the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, is: “Guest at Your Table (GAYT) is UUSC’s annual intergenerational program to raise support for and awareness about our work to advance human rights. Since UUSC works in over 25 countries, with over 75 grassroots partners, there are thousands of individuals involved in and who benefit from the work that our members make possible. GAYT is an opportunity to celebrate grassroots partnership, support human rights, and learn about just four of these individuals – the “guests” in Guest at Your Table.”

Karina O’Brien, who is an immigration lawyer from Acadia Wisconsin, will be leading the forum topic this week.

On October 29 UU members from Menomonie and St. Croix Falls, and possibly other interested individuals from northwest Wisconsin, will join us to share UU rituals, songs, and readings; the purpose: to update one another on what our respective congregations are doing; and to discuss ways in which we might work and help one another.

9:15 FORUM: a TRIP TO THE CROW AND LAKOTA NATIONS

Valerie Rude will recount her tour of the Northern Plains. Through lectures given by members of the Crow and Oglala Lakota Nations, Valerie learned of the Native American perspective of events occuring at sites such as Little Bighorn and Wounded Knee.

10:15 SERVICE: THE POWER OF LOVE

Guest speaker Jacob Greutzman will delve into the Power of Love. Although love, compassion, and trust are often seen as weaknesses, they do in fact require a great deal of strength and resolve. In light of everything from ancient gods to modern struggles, we will see love as a unifying force that is the foundation of so many faiths.
