9:15 forum: WORDS AND THE WEB, CONTINUED

Bob will be facilitating the discussion forum on ‘words and the web’.  We have a focus this day on the 7 principles of being a Unitarian Universalist!

10:30 service: WITCHES AND THE 5TH PRINCIPLE

Judy will be leading the service with joys and concerns, local announcements, speaking for social action, reading the 7 UU principles, music and singing, and her message which focuses on witches and the 5th principle of Unitarian Universalism.

9:15 FORUM: COMMUNICATION AND CONFLICT, PART 6

Colten will be facilitating a discussion about the art and science of communicating with people we disagree with.  The best things about these discussion forums is individual’s experiences, stories, ideas, etc. that we can all share with each other in order to be better communicators in conflict situations.

10:30 SERVICE: MINDFULNESS

Nadine will be leading the service with local announcements, joys and concerns, a chance to speak for social/environmental action, reading the 7 UU principles, music and singing, and her message on mindfulness.

Sunday, December 24th Schedule (Christmas Eve!)

Please note the special times for our holiday observance:  4:00 p.m. instead of our regular morning time

4PM GATHERING:

On Christmas Eve, we will sing carols and share our favorite readings. If you have spare Christmas cookies or other goodies to share, please bring them. We will provide something to drink.

9:15 FORUM: SANCTUARY EVERYWHERE

For those that want to protect the earth and ALL of its inhabitants, the forum at 9:15 at the Blue Hills UU in Rice Lake will be very meaningful. We will be discussing the topic of “Sanctuary Everywhere.”

10:30 SERVICE: WHAT SCARES YOU MOST?

Then at 10:30, a service entitled “What Scares You Most?” will delve into what and we fear physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually and why this may be.

10:30 RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Remember to bring your children! There will be cookie decorating and holiday story-telling downstairs during the service.

11:30 POTLUCK

Afterwards, we will gather for a festive potluck. All are welcome!

9:15 FORUM: Talking with people you disagree with, part 5

Colten Schmidt will be facilitating the 5th discussion series about talking with people you disagree with.  There will be music, a TedTalk video, and some role playing all related to conflict resolution.  Let’s learn to how use conflict in a positive way!

9:15 FORUM: SYRIA SIMPLIFIED

Judy Barisonzi  will lead the discussion about the conflict going on in Syria.  The civil war that has been going on for several years has a lot of history and can be confusing to try to understand.  Judy will be simplifying the story of the conflict in Syria so we can better understand what’s going on there.

10:30 SERVICE: CRISPR- BENEFITS AND CHALLENGES

Waldo Asp and Jim Bradley will be leading the service together with local announcements, speaking for social action, joys and concerns, reading the 7 principles, music and singing, and a discussion of the pros and cons of CRISPR, a gene editing technology.

In this edition, Colten Schmidt will talk of incorporating the strategies of Martin Luther King, Jr. to dissolve potentially violent situations and spread agape rather than hate

10:30 SERVICE: HELPING HANDS: A HUMANIST’S PERSPECTIVE

A leader in BHUU’s social action, Geri Nedland, will give her perspective on “Helping Hands.”
